Welcome to Schloss Hagerhof!

We are a state-approved secondary school with attached boarding school, located at the southern tip of North Rhine-Westphalia in Western Germany. Founded in 1960, our track record of enabling students to graduate successfully reaches back 60 years by now. We are the only boarding school in Germany working on the basis of the Montessori pedagogy. In a nationwide school comparison conducted by the portal schulen.de we rank 2nd place among boarding schools, proudly hitting the winner´s podium.

We are well experienced with welcoming and succesfully integrating international students into our vibrant and diverse school community, whether on the basis of a guest school year or a stay of several years ending with a school-leaving certificate (Mittlere Reife, Fachhochschulreife, Abitur).

Why are we special?

Following the ideas of Maria Montessori’s pedagogy, we put exceptional emphasis on individual and self-determined learning based on each student´s capacities and talents. Our school campus offers lots of space for many activities – a garden, a big park, excellent sports facilities (including two state-of-the-art gyms, basketball and tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, a fitness room), and a large library. Combining the timeless pedagogy of Maria Montessori with 21st century technology, all of our classrooms are equipped with interactive smartboards, and every student uses an iPad as their digital working tool. At Schloss Hagerhof we strive for academic excellence without neglecting the social aspects of learning – we place high value on the development of our students´ personality and social skills. Students can follow their passions and satisfy their curiosity in numerous clubs and acitivities, including sports, computer progamming and our debating society.

Requirements: Students applying for a school place at Schloss Hagerhof need to demonstrate the German B2 language level.
